NRS Extreme Drysuits

July 28, 2011

Check out this “Drysuit 101” video that shows the features of the suits we use in our courses. They’re well made, tough and comfortable.

We always get a lot of questions from first-time students about how to prepare for our swiftwater courses and in particular, they want to know about drysuits. We thought we’d post some information that outlines the details of the suits we use. Although there are a number of great drysuits available, we currently use NRS Extreme Drysuits in our classes. They’re well made, tough and comfortable. If you are interested in learning more about these suits, check out this short video. Click here to visit the NRS website or ask us about ordering suits and other gear.

I've taken both the ice rescue and motorized boat handling and both courses have contributed to working safer in unsafe conditions.

How many people drown in Canada each year?

The most recent Canadian statistics around drowning deaths are from a report by the Red Cross in 2003. It cites trends from 1991-2000 and examines drowning deaths by locations including lakes, rivers, boats, ice, pools, bathtubs etc.

our approach

We believe training should be tailored to the specific needs of each client. While we teach all the skills and knowledge necessary for certification, we approach a course for emergency personnel in an entirely different manner than one for resource managers or outdoor guides.
