Versatile Inflatable Rapid Deployment Rescue Boat

Oceanid’s Rapid Deployment Craft (RDC) is a highly versatile, easy to operate and rapidly deployable inflatable rescue boat.  We have been advocating the use of smaller Inflatable Kayaks (IK) as a valuable tool in water rescue for many years.  The RDC is essentially a “rescueized” version of a standard IK.  Being a little longer and wider it is a little less manoeuvrable than a standard IK but it is much more stable as well.  The open ends in the bow and stern make getting in and out a breeze and the upturned bow and stern create a boat that almost self rights once capsized.  Although it may not be the “perfect” boat for all things, it is one of the most versatile water rescue crafts available.  The fact that it works well for both ice and swiftwater applications creates a mutli-use tool for agencies and a smaller learning curve.  Give our office a call if you have one or are planning on getting one and would like to get some customized training on how to use this craft and it’s various features.  We also offer a Non-Motorized Boat Operator Course (contact our office for details).

Check out the Oceanid Website for more information and to review all the features of this and other Oceanid products.

Car in the Water

By Slim Ray, CFS Press

“Oh, God, this car is floating now. I’m going to get off the phone. This car is floating.” With that, Orlando Hudson, a 27-year-old carpenter, clicked off his mobile telephone and disappeared into the rising waters of Brush Creek.

our approach

We believe training should be tailored to the specific needs of each client. While we teach all the skills and knowledge necessary for certification, we approach a course for emergency personnel in an entirely different manner than one for resource managers or outdoor guides.
