New Canadian resource for tracking of river-related accidents

The Canadian River Safety Project is a wonderful interactive initiative and resource for river users and rescue personnel. The mission is to encourage the productive reporting of river accidents and near misses across Canada in order to help provide a better understanding of how things go wrong, and how to avoid them in the future.  As a “wiki”, anyone can upload information to it, which will hopefully help build the database creating a comprehensive Canadian resource. We encourage you to check it out and help inform the river rescue community that this resource exists.

Car in the Water

By Slim Ray, CFS Press

“Oh, God, this car is floating now. I’m going to get off the phone. This car is floating.” With that, Orlando Hudson, a 27-year-old carpenter, clicked off his mobile telephone and disappeared into the rising waters of Brush Creek.

our approach

We believe training should be tailored to the specific needs of each client. While we teach all the skills and knowledge necessary for certification, we approach a course for emergency personnel in an entirely different manner than one for resource managers or outdoor guides.
