Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

For public, open enrolment courses

Space is limited in training courses and your spot is not guaranteed until we have received payment or issued an invoice to a company, organization or government agency.

Two Weeks Notice Required
Your course fees and gear rental fees are fully refundable if you cancel at least two weeks (14 days) prior to the first day of the course. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing and you must ensure that you get a confirmation of cancellation in return.

Less than 14 Days Notice
Cancellation less than 14 days prior to the first day of the course will result in the loss of the full course fee. Fees are not charged for gear not used. Registrations may be transferred to another person but please notify us of the change.

Raven Rescue Cancels
Raven Rescue reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient registrations or unsafe conditions. If Raven Rescue cancels a course, you will receive a full refund or may choose to transfer your payment to a future course.

For private courses

Once course dates are agreed to, our cancellation policy goes into effect.

Two Weeks Notice Required
We require a minimum of 14 days advance notice to cancel a private course without penalty.

Less than 14 Days Notice
If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to the first day of the course, the client is still responsible for full payment of the course fees, and any non-refundable travel costs already incurred such as airfare or shipping. We do not charge for rental gear not used, or travel costs not yet incurred.

Unsafe Conditions
Raven Rescue reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unsafe conditions. The client will still be responsible for payment of any non-refundable costs already incurred such as airfare or shipping.

The History of the PFD

By J. Michael Turnbull

Or perhaps we should be calling this key piece of personal protective equipment the “PFG”? This article examines how far the world has come since swimmers relied on inflated goat skins!

our approach

We believe training should be tailored to the specific needs of each client. While we teach all the skills and knowledge necessary for certification, we approach a course for emergency personnel in an entirely different manner than one for resource managers or outdoor guides.
